icons chaos went in order

i like my desktop icons scattered and organized customly (the way i want them to) so as you can understand i have an icon chaos on my desktop and thats the way i like it, but this is the 2nd time that when i opened my iMac the chaotic arrangement of my icons was put in order and guess what i went bananas
i like my icon chaos and i have no idea why this happened, can anyone help?

While in Finder, go to View (top left). Drop down to Show View Options. Make sure that Show Icon Preview is checked and that Arrange by is set to None. Close the window.

It happened probably because of hard drive errors. Have you checked your hard drive to make sure it is working properly.

Open /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility and do a "Verify" on the drive to see if spits out any errors.

and if it does? then what would you suggest? although i tried it and it appears to be OK

'SMARTReporter' (free) can check it very fast.

why use SMARTReporter? wont disk utility check do?

Likely. Don't know that Disk Utility uses Smart technology, though it might.

I use both.

Is there someplace else i can notify of this issue cause having posted it so long in here without a solution to be found, kinda sounds to me like a bug, don't you think?
