icons for browser favourites - such a mystery to me....

Hi there,
not sure whether anyone knows or is intersted in letting me into the secret.....
that's why I've posted it here.....

Since I've been using Safari - it's brilliant! - I've been wondering - how do you create and apply these lovely little favourite icons.....?????

I'd love to do one for my little site which I'm working on at the moment - but... don't even know where to start...!!! :'(

Any thoughts, tips or tricks - or links anyone....????

Mine look blue in safari.. Why? They look great in netscape.
