Icons problem

Cube is Trinity...
All my icons have turned to folders or Apllication Icon.

I've been on Aplle Support but only post regarding this a post from osx 10.0 saying I should delete files that are no more on Jaguar.
Moreover, it wont let me install Panther until I fix this problem.

I've tried disk utility but it says it can't repair, and as it was written in Apple support I tried /sbin/fsck -y
but it did not do anything.

Any idea ?

How did you try fsck? By booting holding the Command-S keys down?
Do you have DiskWarrior?

When you tried Disk Utility, were you booted off the OS CD?

yup by retsarting with command-s, but was not able to repair anything. :(

And to reply to ther post: yes i could back-up and save all my data's although i could not drag and drop files and was forced to use copy and paste with keyboard control.

Well i've tried to install panther to fix all but i've got other problem that will go right now in anothr post ... ... ...
Anyway, it is not the first time I see this prob and i'd still lve to see if some1 have some idea how to fix it.

What about reinstalling whichever version of OS X you're currently running?

What was that method for rebuilding the desktop in OS X again...
