Icons

Is there a way to make all files of a certain type have the same icon? I ask because I just changed the default so that now all .ppt files open with Keynote, but that made all the icons for the .ppt files go blank. I want to change them so that their icons are the same as those for Keynote presentations. I can change the icons individually, but that would take ages. Is there a way to change the default for all .ppt files?

Sorry if this is a very simple question. As you can probably tell, I am new to Mac. By the way, I am running Tiger.

Unfortunately I still have not sorted out this problem. And now I have another one. I can't install Windows media player. I download WMP 9 for Mac OS X, and it goes to my desktop as a .sitx file. I open it and it says there is no default application set for it. Shouldn't I have an expander preinstalled on Tiger? If so, do I need to set it as a default application to open .sitx with? And if it is preiinstalled, what is the name of the program?

Sorry if this is pretty basic stuff.

You need to download Stuffit Expander 10 from the following site:

I had the same problem. Although to be honest, you'll be sorely disappointed with the craptastic version they have for the Mac. I'm ready to get rid of it completely.

OK its probably a little late to reply to your thread but hey. I came accross something that instead of using Windows Media Player you can use a plugin you can download for QuickTime so it can play the Windows Media files. You can find out about it at http://www.flip4mac.com/

In honesty though I've not really used it so not sure if its any good

Thats true I forgot about VLC - definately worth using. The only thing different with the plugin I mention is that it claims to work for quicktime to play windows media files in your browser too.
