i've just installed ICQ, but when i try to register and obtain my icq number, after few seconds a messagge like 'the connection has timed out' appears... the firewall is now off, so what i can try to fix this problem...
are you using a router? ICQ is very picky on the connection settings. Also try to use an automatic network setting which you can find somewhere in the settings. Good luck!
hmmmm, nothing..... i've tried to use the automatic settings, but nothing... if i obtain a icq number from another machine, or connecting my iBook at home and not at work, is it possible that i would bypass the problem?
If you're using a proxy server for web at work, you might want to activate it for ICQ as well... Might want to ask your network admin. Or is he against using chatters? ;-)
well, he's definetely against chatters and anything which is not related to work... i would try to register from home, and later try to insert the icq# here, to see if it works.... thanks a lot for your help....
