iDVD issue?

After finally completing a project in iDVD, when I attempt to burn it (to new Imation DVD+R 8X) my G5 2X1.8 spins up then kicks the blank back out telling me to insert a blank DVD. I've attempted with several blanks and the same happens each time. Am I missing something? Thanks for any insight given.
 
One thing to try is to burn the iDVD to disk (not DVD) and then see if you can use Disk Utility to burn that file to the DVD. This will probably distinguish between two problems:
1. A know issue with iDVD burning that I have had as well as others. The above trick solves that problem
2. An issue with either your DVD superdrive or the media chosen. many people suggest trying a different brand of media.
