Illustrator CS 11 will not launch

When I try to start up the program it gets to 90% in the font menu preferences before it just crashes and disappears. I have tried repairing the permissions on the drive, and turned off the suitcase before loading the program. I dumped ITunes and Chess per another thread and nothing seems to be working.

The computer is Mac OS X 10.3.9 with 4.5 GB of RAM on a Dual 2.Ghz G5.

This is getting pretty frustrating and any help would be greatly appreciated. I need to get this up on a production machine ASAP.

P.S. - I tried doing a full re-install and that didn't help either.
 
If it consistently crashed during the font loading, try running FontFinagler. You might have a corrupt font somewhere in there or a bad font cache.

or, Experiment: Try removing every font from your Users/[you]/Library/Fonts folder (move them to an empty folder on the desktop) See if Illustrator boots now.
 
Thanks, I'll try that. Can you please tell me how to do it? I'm just now getting back into Macs after about 18 years away from them.
