This has been one of my annoyances on OS X, I've got everything I can see set to british, but any apps that take advantage of system side spell checking think I'm american.

Take Omniweb for example:

It's so annoying. I can't see what else to change. On internation in system settings, I've got the language set to british english, I've also tried english, keyboard is british and that's about it. I can't think of any other places.

Surely i'm not the only owner of OS X in the UK this is happening to...

Probably you have to wait for Jaguar ....

It will probably include many many dictionaries ...
(also italian .... i hope !!)

you can control-click (or right-click for you multi-button mouse users) on the mis-spelled word and choose Learn Spelling from the resulting menu. Of course you'd have to do this for every such word. But at least then you wouldn't have to look at those underline thingies anymore.

Or you could always also go to the "Spelling…" submenu of that contextual menu and de-select the Check Spelling As You Type feature. But then you're on your own as far as spelling goes.

That's funny, becuase mine is the opposite... I have my language set to English (USA) and "Color" was spelt wrong. "Colour" was correct. I had to add the American spelling to my dictionary.

Very odd.

Quote from its developer's website: "when cocoAspell would quit after you tryed to spell check a document."

'Eat your own dog's food.' springs to my mind. :)

Now that's where it gets funky. I've got it set to British and when I create a new document it's fine. If I open an existing document, its american.

Lol
