I'm having internet access problems with an iBook over a Mac Network

I'm trying to cannect an iBook over a network shared by 2 g4's running OSX but it cannot access any servers. I can mount the other g4's with appletalk so it reckognizes the router, but cannot get an IP address.

I;ve tried connecting it to one of the existing ethernet cables and restarting but it still doesn't take. I can connect at my school easily overa ethernet network so the modem does work. PLease help
 
i've tried them all. DHCP, manually w/DHCP, completely manually, even w OS9. The 2 other comps were easily connected, more or less plugged them in. I'm also trying to help a friend with his new G4 iMac, he has the same problems but with a dedicated feed, not through a modem. Do you have any suggestions?
