Hello

I have a old iMac 233Mhz with 256Mb of ram and a 40Gb hdd.

It has os x 10.3.9 and 9.2 on it.

When i was trying to change the was the Hdd was partitiond, at the moment the osx partition is far to small, and i decided to try to get it to boot into os 9.2, so i changed the boot volume in os x.

Now when i try to start it up, all i get is the firmwear screen v 3.0.f2

Now when i type in mac-boot, it just freezes at a blank gray screen.

The only Cd i have are the mac Softwear restore, and softwear install disks, i dont have a os x disk, or a 9.2 disk, and i have tryed booting from both cd, pressing c as soon as the computer starts up, and nothing happends, i have even tryed typing mac-boot, and pressing and holding c with both disks in, and still no response.

All i want is now to be able to boot it into os x so i can change the boot disk back.

Thank you in advance

Angus

Aren't you supposed to have Firmware 4.1.9 installed before you install OS X? It sounds like you got a corrupted Firmware, and I really don't know to fix that if that is indeed the case.

The reason I am suspecting thats it is because you specified that:

Now when i try to start it up, all i get is the firmwear screen v 3.0.f29

Possible fix...uhh...I know when you do that to a PSP its bricked and you can't do anything with it. I know the Firmware is loaded into the BIOS or EFI (I dont know if old macs use EFI or not) so I'd do a search or wait for someone more knowledgeable.

Thanks for your responses, And yes, i asked the person it came from, and i told him that i keep geting the mesage

"DEFAULT CATCH!, code=300 at %SRR0: ff80a074 %SRR1: 0000b030"

But each time the "ff80a074" section is different, for example it has been the following, each one from when i have typed printenv

ff8092e4
ff80c694
ff80a0e4
ff81dafc
ff81f48c

He said that it was more than likly a corupt firmwear, and as i forgot to say above mac os9 is on a 30GB partion, and i didnt know that you had to boot from the first 8GB.

And it has had OS X boot on it before.

Thanks again for your responses, and if anyone knows how to reapre a firmweer, it would be helpfull, but the only other mac i have is a old powerpc laptop with no firewire or usb.. so i cant boot from that.
