iMac buzzing

I have a 400 mhz iMac that I have replaced the PAV with an ATX power supply.

It will startup but the speakers have stopped working (headphones work fine) and sometimes there is a buzzing from the CDRW/HD area (mostly when I have a CD in the CDRW). When I move the mouse (USB Logitech two button with scroll wheel) it gets a bit louder until the fourth time it stops.
Any ideas?

As far as I know, the pin-outs are slightly different for an iMac power supply and an ATX power supply -- did you do any pin-swapping on the power supply, or did you just plug it right in to the iMac?

I am thinking of taking one of the drive lines to make a separate 12v for the 12v audio.

It could be the power supply, it came from a PowerCenter 150, 1993?

Ah, I see your electrical prowess is sufficient enough that you knew this ahead of time!

Anyways, I'm not an electrician, and your knowledge of electrical components seems to be far beyond my own. I can't really help with the buzzing and audio loss -- I was just thinking that it sounded like a necessary ground wasn't making a good connection, probably due to some wiring snafu with the ATX-to-iMac power supply conversion.

At any rate, I hope someone else can help you out with this -- good luck!

just as a side point, i think iMac's are well buzzing too. i'd gladly have a new one.
