iMac crashes after going into sleep mode

Hello-
I have an iMac G4 with 512 MB of RAM. I recently simultaneously had a new hard drive and upgraded to Tiger. I have kept up with all the latest upgrades of Tiger. Since my new hard drive and upgrading to Tiger, I have found that my computer crashes when I try to get it out of sleep. It doesn't seem to be a complete crash though-- the screen comes back, and I can hear that I am getting email and iChat sounds, but my mouse is frozen and I can't use the keyboard to navigate either so it is essentially crashed requiring a power down.
This doesn't happen everytime it sleeps, but about 75% of the time.
I read that there were sleep issues with Tiger and iMacs, but it seemed like they were supposed to be fixed already. I am trying to figure out if this could be a hard drive issue or not.

Thanks for your help. This is my first question!

This may or may not be relevant. I have a Kennsington bluetooth mouse which causes both my iMac and Powerbook (Tiger, 10.4.5) to awake on their own from sleep into a freeze mode. Kennsington replaced the mouse. Issue remains. Using USB mouse...no problem.
