Please help.
I have had an iMac with Leopard system for 4 months. I recently purchased Dragon Naturally Speaking 9, preferred. After going through several days of frustration I finally have Windows XP, MicroSoft Office & the bootcamp drivers loaded. (I hope) I got the Dragon program loaded today.
I made it to the point of initializing the software by speaking into the microphone, however it would not work. The sreen said something about low volume. I took it to Best Buy & the Geek squad could not get it to work either. 1 of the guys tried speaking into the mike & reading the 1st practice excersie. His voice wasn't registering either. They went into several different areas to adjust the audio & microphone. All they got was ear piercing feedback. The Geek Squad told me the dragon speak was not going to work on the imac due to mac's built in microphone. All of us had used the mic that come in the dragon spek package.
I have just spent hundreds of dollars on software recommended by the Apple rep & staff at Best Buy and 3 days to aggravation. They told me the apple voice command program had too many problems & dragon was best.
I need the speech recgognition software for medical reasons. I'm not doing this just for fun or because I hate to type. I have been very frustrated with my switch to Mac these past few months. This is the last straw.
Can someone help me fix this?
Should I sell the Mac & go back to a PC?
thank you.
