iMac DV Overclocking

I allready know of those hazards, and I don't use this comp for more than gaming and using hotline. The only problem I really see is the cooling bit, either have to cram in a fan or water cooling or whatever into the imac to make it cool while being overclocked...

I seriously doubt you will bring it up to 1000mhz. You may be able to push it up 50-100mhz, but I wouldn't really know.

Try checking out the xlr8yourmac.com forums
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/G4forum.html

There, you will be able to find a section called Case Mods and CPU Tweaking. There are a lot of nice people there, the only problem I have there is signing up. Seems like I will never be able to!

A friend of mine read somewhere about someone who overclocked his imac dv to 1000mhz and it worked fine (he probably used some sort of cooling, fan, or whatever, otherwise it'd probably burn up or just stop running)
But he can't remember where he read it :(

Overclocking a 400 MHz processor to 1000 MHz sounds completeky weird, if you're lucky you'll get it running at 500 MHz, or only 450 MHz. Overheating is usually not a problem on new macs like the iMac DV, the reason why it won't work on high frequencies is that the transistors get filled up with electrons before it empties. And when one single error like that happens in an electronic circuit, everything goes wrong, and the machine will hang. On really high frequencies, like 550 MHz or above, it will likely not boot at all. Also, to overclock an iMac you must have really good soldering skills and be really stable on your hands, those resistors are small... And if you mess anything up, you'll have to replace the motherboard or buy a new computer, even authorized apple techs aren't able to fix messed-up motherboards, I think...
You're warned ;)
