So does anyone know about the iMac (400 mhz DV slot loading SE) screen goes dark sometimes - a restart fixes it. Then one day the screen when red and then next time it wouldn't turn on. Went to an authorized dealer who said it was a common problem and fixed it Died 2 days later and they fixed it again. Now screen is getting dark again. Anyone else experiencing this? Bought the machine in Dec 99, should still work - running oS x 10.1.5 384mb ram 10 gig hd 400 mhz processor
 
Something similar happened to my brothers old 233mhz imac bondi. It was about 4-5 years old. Kept doing that. It went really dark and wouldn't come out of it. They "fixed" it but eventually it just snap crackle pop and died for good. Now he has another monitor hooked in.

I'm guessing that is what is happening to yours. :(
