iMac ethernet issues with OSX Lion

Hi guys,

Apologies if this has been covered already.

Ever since I upgraded to Lion, my ethernet will stop working every so often, then 5 mins later it returns to regular traffic. It's usually random, and it's been happening a lot recently, roughly once every 15 mins or so. It's directly connected to my router (Netgear DG834G). I'd suspected the router initially, but having used other devices successfully to access the internet while my iMac's ethernet traffic stops, I have ruled this out (temporarily, at least). I downloaded a traffic monitor to see what happens, and the bytes in and out drop to zero when it occurs, not even minimal traffic. It happens on all installed browsers (Safari, Chrome and Firefox).

Any ideas as to what may be causing this, and how to remedy it? I'll try any suggestion. I'm tempted to revert back to Snow Leopard, but really don't want to have to.

My Mac is a 20" late 2006 iMac.

Thanks!

Some basic troubleshooting to eliminate possibilities:
different ethernet cable
different port on router.
In Network prefs, have you created a Location?
