iMac Firmware Upgrade

Is there any way to upgrade the firmware for iMac DV w/o OS 9? I figured there should be a firmware upgrade via OS X. This iMac is running OS 10.2.3.

Maybe I'll give it a shot by updating to the latest 10.2.8 and I should be able to install Panther, yeah?

No, you need to boot into OS9 to upgrade the firmware for your computer. I *think* you can boot off your OS9 install CD and then upgrade the firmware from a copy on your hard drive.

I just resorted to system restore w/ the original cd that it came with, updated to 9.1 and upgraded the firmware. A lot of work but worth it to get it to Panther!
