iMac G3 - no startup chime, but power on

Hi there, I have a very strange problem with an iMac G3 slot loading. It seems to be the same problems as other users have with their iMacs. The trouble began by switching off the iMac - the power-led keeps on (green). Then my daughter in law pulls the power cable. By restarting the iMac only the power led is on, but the mac is absolutely "dead". No startup chime no spinning of the hard-disk...
I do the following: Change the battery, reset the PMU, check the power-cord, unplug and plug the RAM, check the hard-disk. But I can´t find what the problem is. Next step I swapped the logical board with another iMac - but I can´t believe: it is the same problem. The board is o.K and therefore the Power Management Unit too, because it is on the board, or not? Is there someone with any idea? Thank you for your help,
Matthias from Germany

What did you do before this happened? Do you run os 9 or os X? If you run OS 9, did you try to install OS X on the last session?

thank you for answering, on this iMac OS X (now 10.3.9) is running, and my daughter in law has done no changes at the system. The imac runs very well until now. What she said is, that she get a message about a nearly full hard-disk and a message about wrong time and date. This is why I thought its only a battery- problem. The hard-disk is o.k - I have tested it in an external drive.

Update: I have tested the Power/Analog Board Fuse. It is o.K. and it seems that I´m at the end of my wisdom....
