iMac G3 to G4 upgrade

for older iMacs the upgrade is $300, available in the US only. You have to send in the motherboard and you get it back in 10 days. Hmmm, I'm wondering if this is worth it or not?

can you even take the motherboard out of an iMac? it sounds hard and very risky. if your motherboard gets messed up in the mail i doubt that the company will get you a new computer. my iMac is too new for the processor anyway... lame.

A faster G3 would probably be better than a slow G4.
