imac g4/800 grey frozen screen

Hi all,

My imac g4 800 just froze on grey screen with apple logo. tried pram reset comm+option+p+r but no joy. also done apple diagnostic hardware test, all fine. also held power button till white screen appears with the prompt type "mac-boot" but when i do still nothing happens.


Any suggestions please,

hey thanks for the reply, it wont let me boot from cd, and i ve just took the bottom cover off to reset the pmu and still nbothing, just grey screen again.

been reading some forums, is a logic board possibly the problem.

ps. it will boot from the os 9 cd but not osx ??????????????????`
 
What kind of OS X CD is it -- the one that came with the computer? A retail version? What version of OS X is on the CD?

If it's black in color, it's a retail CD... if it's gray in color, it's a system-specific version of OS X that can only be installed on the model of Mac printed on the CD itself.
