iMac G5 2.1Ghz Can't Boot Tiger Install DVD

My iMac is one of the last G5 revisions before Apple went totally intel. I picked up a great G5 tower and I'm looking to sell this thing.

I try booting from the Tiger DVD (holding down the C key at boot), and when it tries to boot from the DVD (which I know is good, I booted it on my iBook), I get that "no smoking" sign, minus the cigarette.

I took out any extra RAM I installed, I reset the SMU/PRAM/NVRAM. I used TechTool to zero out the hard drive in case there was anything going on in there.

I'm at my wits end here. The weird part is the system can boot other OS's (I tried FreeBSD and Linux) and they boot fine. Unfortunately I can't find my restore discs, I have no idea where they went, so I'm relying on the retail Tiger discs to work.

Any advice is GREATLY appreciated.

You have to use the installation disk that came with the iMac G5 2.1 GHz, because an original 10.4.x DVD could be older than that particular machine and might be missing some hardware information required for booting it.

Your iMac 2.1 GHz shipped with an installer for OS X 10.4.2
The commercial Tiger installer has shipped in 3 versions, so far.
10.4 (won't boot your iMac), 10.4.3 (probably works for you), and 10.4.6, which will work.
Maybe you can find the restore disks for the iMac?
