i recently won an iMac G5 for academic excellence in my technology program at school (generously donated by a teacher), but there is one serious problem with it: the disk drive. it never reads disks burned from PC's (either saying they're blank or ejecting them), and it will not boot from a system disk. when i attempt to burn anything, it fails almost immediately and the error reports that it fails to calibrate the laser. this happens for any capacity of disk media. this is a drive that is meant to be able to burn and read all kinds of dvd and cd media. it may be relevant to say that this is one of the older models that have a tendency to shoot the disk out of the drive when ejecting.
