iMac G5 Speaker Config (sound)

Hi there,

Strange problem I'm having with a new imac.

The sound output in system prefs only has a digital out option and no internal speaker option like my other one. There is an internal speaker as it chimes on startup etc.

Any ideas?

System info: 1st Generation G5 iMac running 10.3.6
and was updated from my other one which had to be repaired via the Firewire T startup mode.

I'm led to believe that you have something (external speakers or headphones, etc) attached to your iMac's headphone jack right now. If you unplug it from the iMac, then the Output window should revert back to "Internal Speakers" instead of "line out". It doesn't display both anymore, just the one being used at the moment.

If that's not the case, and nothing is currently plugged in, try plugging in some headphones and then unplugging them, to see if that doesn't change anything.
