i don't now why it wont install but this message comes up "select a destination disk to install the mac OS X software". It has a new 120GB hardware with nothing on it. Its a universal full installation CD. It is a blank hard drive it does not have any mac software in it.

You might have to launch Disk Utility from the menu at the top of the installation session and create the Mac OS Extended partition so that the installer can recognize the filesystem on the hard drive. Otherwise, it won't know what to install the OS on.

Also, be aware that with some iMac G3 systems you have to create a 7.5 GB partition at the beginning of the hard drive and install OS X there as there was an issue where OS X needed to be installed on the first 8 GB of a hard drive. So this would mean that you would have a 7.5 GB partition holding the OS X installation, and then another second partition which would make up the rest of the hard drive's size for everything else.
