Image Capture permissions problem

I'm running OS X 10.7.1 on my iMac and trying to use image capture with my epson scanner. the scanner shows up fine in image capture and performs a preview, but when I try to scan it says "selected folder is not writable". It says this no mater what folder I select.
When I use the same scanner through my macbook, running the same operating system, there is no problem.
I am, of course, logged in as an administrator and I have no other problems writing to folders. I've looked around and haven't seen a similar problem posted anywhere.
thanks.

My Image Capture is doing the same thing (can't save scans after updating to Lion) with my Lexmark 2670 on my '07 iMac AL Intel. It won't even let me save to Desktop or Downloads, the permissions on those folders are just fine it must be an issue with Image Capture.

Odd, I was able to save the scan to a new untitled folder I made on the desktop even though I still can't save to folders like Desktop and Downloads. I have Read&Write permission on all those folders and none are locked, I don't know what could be the difference besides that Lion made those folders instead of me the user, but I'm still owner of the folders. *shrug*

Thanks, your solution worked for me too. it doesn't make any sense why I can't scan to any of the pre-made folders or directly to applications but your subfolder trick will do me just fine. back to work then, thanks a lot.
