IMAP persistent IP connections with iOS

I am having issues with having an iPad, iPhone and Mac Mail running at the same time. Our company has multiple email accounts at the same domain that are all IMAP accounts but our hosting company only allows 25 processes to run on the server.

The iPhones and iPads are leaving persistent IP connections up causing our website to go down.

I have turned off IDLE in mac mail for all accounts and set fetch instead of Push on both the iPad and iPhone, but the IP Connections are still being connected. I have spoken with the hosting company and they can see the persistent connections.

I have no other ideas on how to resolve this issue.

With your Email client open IMAP is ON. IMAP is an email system that leaves email ON THE SERVER! So if you leave email in an Inbox (and don't save it locally in folders in your client) you client will always keep a connection to the server.

So go into all those email clients and take all the email out of the Inbox and save it on your client, locally. Then in that Email client look at the Preferences for that client and increase the time when the client syncs with the IMAP server.
