iMovie (or maybe iWeb) video frame question

So when I make a movie in iMovie and post it to my site with iWeb I have one simple thing that I'd like to do, but I can't figure out how. A lot of our videos start with a black screen and then fade in a title of the event or whatever. When I post those in iMovie the thumbnail that people click on is just a black box for all of them. Is there a way to have a representative frame from the movie be the thumbnail but start the movie in black as intended? Thanks.

Hi,

The thumbnail shown in the webpage is called the poster frame, and by default it's the first frame of the movie. (In your case a black one)

To change the poster frame of a movie, you can use QuickTime Pro (30$), or do it through iTunes.
See this page that explains the trick ... http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303185
You can also do it with the free example app from Apple (Set Poster Frame to Selection)
http://developer.apple.com/samplecode/qtinfo/qtinfo.dmg

After doing it, drag the movie to iWeb and publish ... and it doesn't work.
It seems that poster frames are not supported in web browsers.

Solution: Put an image in your webpage that links to the movie.

Regards, BJ
