iMovie problem

I want to edit the speed of a clip in iMovie (I have version 8.0.6).

If I bring up the Inspector I get the box shown in the left image below. This does not show a speed adjuster.

However, according to Apple's support pages I should get the box shown in the image on the right, which does have a speed adjuster.

Why can't I get it on mine?

Hi Rhisiart,

The first thing I'd check is whether the clip has been added to a project; as I understand it, the speed of a clip cannot be adjusted until this has been done. Once it has been added, try using the Inspector again and see if the speed setting is there.

Oh. "Have you tried switching it off and on again?" ;)

I must confess I'm not an expert with iMovie, I've not used it much. Is it possible that the clip needs to be converted to another format before tinkering with it?

There are no speed controls in iMovie 7. Apparently to get around this problem it is advisable to download JES Deinterlacer.

In iMovie 8 it seems you cannot access speed adjustment controls if the video you upload is compressed.

Still working on that one. Watch this space.
