IMPORTANT Classic Issue For All

twister

Howdy
This is based on my experiences.

Problem: I run OS X most of the time, but every once and a while I start-up under 9 to play Unreal. When I started under 9 it would say my OS X disk was unreadable, and asked if i wanted to initialize it. NO!

Solution: You MUST start classic mode in OS X if you ever want to startup under 9. You see, when you startup classic it asks you to install a few classic things that help it work with OS X. These things make OS 9 know what OS X is.

Stuck in 9?: To get OS 9 to see my OS X disk again, I started my computer off an OS X CD. It happened to be a 10.1 CD and I was running 10.2.4 so I don't think it matters. When the install screen came up I opened up disk first aid ( even though i didn't use it ), and then quit the installer which restarted my computer back into OS 9. When OS 9 loaded up my OS X disk was back and I could now choose it to start off of.

Nothing was ever lost or hurt. And this happened to me 6+ times before I figured it out. Since I started Classic, and installed those things, I have not had any issues. :)

What is this "9" of which you speak? Has Apple released 10.2.9 already??? Where can I D/L it??? :D

Seriously, that's good to know. I don't boot to 9 at all any more, but I'll be sure to 'slap' it with classic before startup if I ever find the need to again (I doubt it).

Won't happen to me now ... I've got no Classic (except my SteveJobs-ware in my wardrobe).

But good to know. :)
