I'm trying to import media from the old version of an iMovie project to the new version.
However when I go to the "Import Movies" selection in the "File" menu, the relevant media folder is unclickable.
Are you using iMovie '08 here? Is the older version iMovie '06? What is the file extension of the media?
In the iMovie File menu are you selecting "Import iMovie HD project" or "Import Movies"
Have you tried (in iMovie '08 if applicable) importing the movie (example) into iPhoto and then restarting iMovie '08 and click on iPhoto Videos in the Event Library section in the lower left of the iMovie main window. If you've just added the movie to iPhoto, then the next time you launch iMovie you will be prompted to allow iMovie to build a thumbnail of the recently added movie/s. Click "Now" to let iMovie build the thumbnail collection and once finished you can select the movie and drag it onto the upper section.
