Importing .mp3 in GarageBand so I can record tracks OVER it

How do I import an .mp3 file as ONE track onto GarageBand so that I can record other tracks beside it?
EX.

TRACK1 .mp3 track |
------------------------

-------------------------|
TRACK2 Real Instrument track |
--------------------------

^Basically that is what I want in Garage band...

What happens if you just drag the file into Garageband? You can add mp3s in iTunes with the Media Browser (In GB 3).

i just drag the mp3 file into the window, and that creates one track. then go to track > new track > real instrument
