importing mp3s in iMovie?

i know you can import mp3s to use for audio tracks in iMovie, however
when I go to my folder which holds 'em, i cant select one to use. I can
extract from CDs though. Any ideas / suggestions?

At the top of your screen, press Import file. you can now select any jpeg image or mp3 soundtrack and a plenty of other formats...

i should have mentioned i tried that, but what happens is
when you select importable files, mp3 is not listed and none of the mp3s
in the folder can be selected.

any other advice?

I'll try one more thing before throwing in the towel. when importing files, at the top there's a 'Show:' abd then a list. Select 'All importable files'.

unfortunately it still is a no go. dont want to burn a cd just to add mp3s that

Are the mp3's greyed out? that happened to me, and all I can figure is that it doesn't accept files from limewire, something is, well, different about them. Even changing aound file attributes wouln't get it to accpet them, while all other applications would.

Sorry, but I really don;t have suggestions on how to fix this. Try the forums at apple?

Have you tried importing the file to Amadeus or Quick Time Pro and then exporting it? That could help

I tried basically reencoding them, still didn't work. Weird stuff, eh?

you are right agent.... i tried importing mp3s i ripped on my computer,
and they can be imported... not the ones i got from limewire. very unusual.

Ahhh my friend, I have come across this problem before. The thing to do, is open iTunes and convert the mp3 that doesnt seem to work to an mp3. I know this sounds strange but it seems to be a different kind of mp3 that so happens to work. Give it a shot, and tell me if that solves your problem.

That's a good tip to know about, the iTunes thing.

I had to open my MP3's in Quicktime Player and export them as AIFF. Then iMovie recognized them.

And speaking of annoying iMovie import "features," although you are supposed to be able to import DV streams to iMovie, if you "Export to iDVD" which makes DV files, you cannot them import the file back into iMovie. How annoying.

i wasnt aware you couldnt import back to iMovie... pain in the rear... oh well..
