importing WMAs to iTunes???

i've only just got my iBook, and it's my first ever mac, so some help would be much appreciated. atm I'm trying to import my .wma files into iTunes using a memory stick, but when i try to open the files with iTunes i get a pop-up telling me that they are blank documents, not .wma's. When i try to convert them to MP3 format, mac tells me it can't do it, but not why. it's driving me mad! any ideas?
 
ah see i have a problem there. my mac isn't connected to the internet yet, so any programs i get i also have to transfer using the memory stick! it's just one problem after another. if i can get easyWMA working it looks like it'd be great though!
