Hi everyone,

I have a problem since a few days,
I cannot modify or delete an empty folder, and another file, that someone copy on my external hard disk Lacie.

As soon as I try to delete these files , I have a message:

"Impossible to finish the operation: one or more necessary elements
is untraceable. error code -43 " (translate from french !!!)

I already spend a lot of time on the web, to find a solution to my problem, and i tried many things (to erase with alt, the teminal, to replace the file...........), but no way!!!!
When I try to replace it by another file of the same name, it copies it next the other !!!

[PowerMac G4, Panther 10.3.3]

If somebody has an idea, welcome ,

Thank you in advance

Don

I have a special caracter on my files "ä"

I cannot rename it !!!

"No such file or directory" with the terminal and "sudo rm -R"

Arggghhhh !!!

Yes !!

I just tested every solution through the terminal and everything, and the only solution is to restart the computer on os 9 an delete or modify the files there... No more error -43 !!! Os 09 read the name of the file differently...

The error came from the names of the files.
Both of files I had problems with contained a "ä"....

And why should this _ever_ be a problem? Mac OS X uses (or should be using anyway) Unicode for file names. Sometimes, such things are just strange... And Zammy: Some people have "contacts" (e-mail, websites, file exchange) with other peoples' members. ;-)
