install BSD subsystem

I installed 10.1 without the BSD subystem on my home machine (G3 PB bronze). Then I upgraded progerssively to 10.2.2. Now I want BSD (didn't even know what it was before ...) - does anyone know how to do this? I only have a 10.1.4 install disk, the system upgrade downloads of course, and another machine with full 10.2.2 (including BSD subsystem) installed. What about moving all the bin files over? And how do I get permission to do this?

Any suggestions appreciated -
