Hi All.

We have one of those standard iMacs, we just had added some more RAM in there.
We tried to install the MacOSX on it. The installation went smoothly.
But when iMac reboots it shows the grey apple on the screen - the picture is damaged - some random lines in it. And stops there. First Aid disk check from the CD is OK.

Please help.

edX-great question. I made that mistake with my iMac, 400 mhz my dad is using. Update that firmware, not only will it make the system run, it will run smoothly. I did not update the firmware and the system froze repeatedly.

Indeed. My screen went red, green purple, all the colors because of not updating the firmware.

Someone has told us, that we have to take out the extra RAM chips that we added, leaving only the native ones. Have anyone heard of such a situations?

Yes, that way you can see if the problem is the new RAM chips, or something else. If the problem persists after you put out the chips, you obviously can put them back in.
