Install Pioneer DL DVD-R Drive in iMacG4?

Is it possible to replace SuperDrive with a newer Pioneer model that has DL capability? f so, which model Pioneer to buy? Does OS 10.4.3 need any patching? I assume installation is straightforward, yes?
