Installing APPLEWORKS without Classic

Why wouldnt it? Appleworks 6 is a macosx software (i have throwed away everything that connects it with classic on the firm imac, since some of the other users accidently booted it in classic sometimes and that annoyed me when they saved files with ugly icons :) )

Well the original AppleWorks 6 installers were for 9 only, like the one that came with my family imac. However newer versions of the install cd have the installer in carbon so it works in X. I would call apple. Apple is definitely going to have to figure something out about that problem. Another problem I see when they get rid of os9 boot capability is that people won't be able to install starcraft if they buy it, because you can only install it in 9 and then upgrade to carbon version.

Ah, i shouldnt have been so fast replying without thinking that you maybe had an older Appleworks. How is it with AW, anyway? Is it free from apple or was i just lucky it was bundled with my eMac?

You were just lucky enough to have it bundled with your emac. AppleWorks typically comes with imacs and emacs and ibooks. My suggestion would be to borrow a friend's appleworks disc or software restore disc that has the carbon version of the appleworks installer and use it. I mean you aren't pirating because you do own a copy. Or you could write apple and ask for a new disc.
