installing internal DVD Drive in newest iMacs

Does anyone know if swapping in an internal DVD drive for the CD/CDRW drive would work with the newest iMacs? i.e. would the DVD Player work under
OS 9/OS X? (I wish Apple would offer DVD as a "build to order" option).

aren't the newest iMacs equipped with slot-loading cd-roms? I really dunno, you'll want to check out www.xlr8yourmac.com and see if Mike there has anything on that.
