I've been having this problem for a week and I'm about to shoot myself over it. I hope someone can help me.
I have an iMac G4 with OS X 10.3.9 installed. Last week I bought a new printer/fax/scanner (Brother MFC-7220). I took out the install CD for OS X 10.3.9 but I keep getting a mysterious Stuffit Expander error message "destination fscommand is on a locked volume, please select another destination". I click "Okay" and no matter what I select I get an error from SE that says "An error occurred attempting to expand 'BrotherMFLPro04.mpkg'. A folder was specified when a file was required. Error#17530"
The thing is that when I click "Okay", first of all I don't know where I am supposed to be putting this stuff and second it will only let me click on folders. Everything else is grayed out.
At first I thought that this might have something to do with the fact that whoever was using my computer before me accidentally deleted the comps Utilities folder and all of the printer drivers, etc. I re-installed the Utilities folder and ran DiskWarrior to repair the permissions but I'm still getting these errors.
The people at Brother can't help me because most of them are idiots (like I am) when it comes to Mac systems.
I was frantically searching on the internet for "locked volume" errors and I found a thread on this forum. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to unlock so I unlocked everything (with the exception of the Brother Installation CD, because it's read-only). But I'm still getting these errors and I'm kind of at the end of my rope. Someone please help.
