Installing SL 10.6.3 "Cannot install support files" Error

I am getting an error when installing SL 10.6.3 on my Macbook pro model A1150 2.16ghz. The error message says that it cannot install the support files and to try restarting. I am currently running 10.4.11. I already checked all the hardware and everything passed. I also erased the hard drive as well and still cannot get it to work. I read in some forums that it is sometimes due to faulty RAM. I had recently installed a 1gb chip, so I removed that and still was not able to get it to work. Ideas please??

Is this a white 10.6 disk or a grey disk that you got from another Mac owner?

It is a white disc. Bought it from the apple store so there shouldn't be any issues with the disc itself.

If it is the $29 version then you might have to do the an erase then install. See if that works. Just use the install disk to erase the drive before letting it to continue the install.

I bought the $129 box set version and used the install disk to erase the drive.
