installing trouble (monitor resolution)

I cI got MacosX with an iBook and tried to install it on my 266 MT G3.
The CD started and at oce the monitor went down and displayed crap.
I think the resolution is the problem, but how can I reduce the resolution, which the CD chooses? (I was happy to get it back to normal!)

It was just a delay of about 2 minutes, which I stopped.
Now it runs (though slow).
