Intel Based Macs and Windows Server passwords

We can access Windows server resources on an Intel based Mac, but we cannot change passwords. MSUAM is installed. OS = Tiger 10.4. most recent update.
All PPCs work. Seems to be related to the Intel. Error = "-50"

Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions?

Thank You

What version of windows Server at you talking about? There are many different ways this happening on different versions of Windows Server.

Here is one hint.

Then there is the brute force way hint

Microsoft even says:
Windows Server 2003 uses secure encryption which the version of samba in Panther (Mac Operating System) doesn't support. The server's authentication needs to be changed to allow unsigned authentication, per the following: On the server, go to "Start" ->"Administrative Tools" -> "Domain Controller Policy" (not Domain Policy) and look for "Security Settings" -> "Local Policies" -> "Security Options" -> "Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications (always)". It should show "Enabled" by default. Double-click on it and set to "Disabled". Then close the app and reboot the server.

Now if you are going to use your Mac in the wide world of Windows domains then you should keep the site MacWindows at the top of you bookmarks.

We are connecting to a Windows 2003 server and using resources on it with both the PPC and Intel based Macs running 10.4.9. We have no problems changing a password on a PPC, but the Intel based Macs fail 100% of the time.
I will have our network admin check the server settings, but if all ppcs with 10.4.9 work and no Intel based machines work - it seems to be an issue on the Intel based machines. Does the OS act differently based on the flavor of the machine?

Thank you for any info or verification of the problem at other locations.
