Intel iMac performance

I recently got a 20" iMac 2.16 GHz Core 2 Dou.
At first, I was impressed with it, but lately I'm seeing the spinning beachball way too much.
I upgraded from Photoshop 7 to Adobe CS2 - and It just seems to run slower.
Anyone notice this?
Particulary when I'm shutting down, swapping from app to app to quit, seems to take a long time. Maybe I have a large object in my paste cache (or whatever its called).

CS2 runs under Rosetta, basically an emulator, so it will run slower. CS 2 would be heavier than 7, I'd imagine, so it'd be slower. Also, make sure you have at least 1 GB of RAM - or more.

seconded. unless an application shouts that it's Universal, it's probably emulating the older, completely different PowerPC chips.

Emulation is traditionally like wading through 2-foot-deep mud, so the fact that it's only slightly slower is a technical feat of engineering on apple's part.

Adobe are one of the last development houses scheduled to release Universal versions of their programs, as they aren't upgrading before CS3 comeout sometime in the new year.
