internet file pick-up

I have a file for an associate to pick-up.
It seems in Panther, guest is no longer a viable Log-in.
Short of giving an associate my PW, is the next best thing creation of a new user and PW for them and drop the file in that Public folder?
She's on Jag, I'm in Panther.
Sharing - PFS, Remote, & FTP are on.
Ports are forwarded, but she can't get in using Guest.

Or turn on your Web sharing, put the file in ?Library/WebServer/Documents, and give the person the URL to download the file.

It would be:

http://(IP address here)/~(username here)/(filename here) if it's in your personal website directory, or simply:

http://(IP address here)/(filename here) if it's in the global website directory.

Don't forget to forward port 80. Also, make sure the file doesn't have spaces in the name. We all know how badly browsers mangle stuff with spaces.

doesn't seem to work. port is forwarded and file name is 3 letter, no spaces.
tried both global and personal. would I be able to see the file from behind the same wireless router or not?

You can try that -- if you can see the file from behind the router, then that means something is wrong with either the forwarding or the address used to access the file... try that and report back.

can you connnect to the web server at all from outside? i.e. - is it the file, or the entire connection that won't work?

can't acces from behind the router. I have a Belkin wireless router. Under the list of virtual servers, I have Web Server (HTTP) checked, TCP is type, port 80 is "private port" and there is my Macs private adr. NAT is enabled, Firewall is enabled.
I have PFS, FTP, Web Sharing, Remote Log-In on in Sharing pane.

Maybe your ISP is blocking port 80 at their gateway. I know mine blocks port 25 (smtp) so I can't receive mail on a mail server on my own computer...
