Internet Problems

Hi there,
Im currently running OSX 10.4.9 on a mac mini g4. I have just been on the phone to my ISP (Tiscali) they seem to want to blame the mac for why my internet is so slow. Im on an up to 8mb package, but am only recieving download speeds of 356kbps to 500kbps. I am using a Netgear DG834G wireless router and am connected to the mac min by Wi Fi.

Is the tech guy from tiscali, just trying to blame the mac as he doesnt have anything on his script about macs?

Is your phone line even capable of handling a 8MB connection. You may find yours can only handle 512KB/s.

Just a guess.
 
I had a check with BT and they said my line is capable of up to 8mb, my router says that i am connected at 8 mb, but when i do tiscali's speed test it shows very slow speeds
