internet speeds

I have been having problems with the speed of my internet under OS X. Using Hotline (starting up in Classic) I can get up to 500-600k from one server but in OS X using Hotline (Classic, when starting from OS X) my speeds don't even get close. I think that the highest was about 80k. Same time of the day with multiple tests. Any ideas why? Any ideas how to fix this?

My guess is that the TCP/IP support in Classic isn't very great, but I can't say for certain. I seem to recall that old non-Carbon versions of AOL Instant Messenger didn't run too well, either. Has anyone confirmed any of this? Anyway, you may have to wait for a Carbonized version of Hotline to get acceptable performance.

I went to DSL reports and did a speed test under 9 and again under X. My connection is nearly twice as fast under X as it is under 9.
