when My Mac starts I get the following error:

I am using my PC to type this in.
I am very knowledgable about PC's but 1st time on a Mac. My brother gave this to me with this error.
only thing connected is an Argon Monitor (DVI to VGA adaptor), apple mouse and keyboard.
