Invalid Volume Header Won't Repair

My second internal SATA drive on my dual G5 2Ghz with 10.4.8 stopped mounting. I run Disk utility and it finds an Invalid Voume Header. Claims to fix it. Won't mount it. When I try to mount it with Disk Utility I get, "Disk Management Tool requires that you type your password." I have never gotten that message before when I try to mount a disk.
I put in my password, the screen goes away, but nothing happens.
Please advise.

Get a more capable app than Disk Utility: Disk Warrior or Tech Tool Pro.
