Ip V6!

Sorry if this has been said already, but I didn't see it anywhere.

This is so good. I predict that Apple will start the conversion of the internet to IPV6 with this release or OSX. Windows will soon follow with IPV6 support in all it's versions and since all the major OSs will support it, the routers, gateways, etc. will start supporting it.

All I say is, it's about time!

I'm glad Iwasn't the only one who did a double take at IPv6 in 10.2 - but my theory is that Apple will support it, and cisco will support it, and it will remain irrelevant for a couple more years as Apple, Cisco, and various *nixes push IPv6 into relevance as microsoft attempts to make its own proprietary .NET extension technology the de facto standard by deploying it and making it the default on all OSes they ship. Eventually they will have to give in and microsoft will release IPv6 in a flourish that will convince Windoze users that it's new, and microsoft thought of it. It will be listed as a networking option as "microsoft IPv6."

or IPv6 could fail and the .NET stupid standard could take over, but this isn't likely ... because microsoft will never be relevant in networking. Too many people who just know too much work in networking to be short changed by fast talk and buzzwords. Networking and Unix administration are where the oldest, hardest, and saltiest of the geeks reside. Cisco's success confirms this.

I hope that this starts all the manufacturers of TCP/IP hardware to support IPV6. I'm sure Microshaft will build it into windoze, seeing how they are always copying Apple.

.Net runs over TCP/IP(at least the Internet part) I believe so AFAIK, it's not a competing protocol.

I also agree that Microsoft will publicize their IPV6 as if they invented it.
